Does recycled automatically mean green? The N+ew Stool handcrafted by designer Rodrigo Alonso (and available at Uncrate) is made from recycled computer parts, resin, and melted aluminum. N+ew stands for "No More Electronic Waste" but is this stool really wasting any less?

Wow - what a great post and question. My passion is art, and I love working with resin, but I face a similar problem. How do you recycle resin and it is bad for the environment? Is there a resin that is environmentally friendly? I would love to hear other comments. Oh and that stool must weigh a TON - resin can get pretty heavy!

What happens when it's time to get rid of this piece of furniture? How do we recycle this stool?
Is it necessary to recycle this stool? A good deal of furniture never goes near a landfill because it's resold or handed down to new owners.
Given that the stool sells for $2000, I have trouble seeing it as "disposable" furniture. It's more likely to be resold and resold until human civilization collapses and the cockroaches have to deal with it.

I'm not sure how stable resin is for outdoor use, but something like this would be ideal for large public spaces, like train/bus stations, malls, museums, etc.

I hope that this stool is hollowed out. If it is solid it will weigh a ton! Also, wasteful use of waste material is still wasteful.
Personnally, I would not want something made from polyurethane or epoxy resin in my home. The off-gassing is terrible!
